For example, Mexico is in the middle of a tortilla crisis. The price of corn has skyrocketed and as such, a cornerstone of the Mexican diet has become unattainable. What was once a cheap and plentiful food source for the poor is now a luxury. It doesn't do to have people starve while you create fuel for cars. I think the Germans who created Kompogas have it right. They take biogenous waste, (grass clippings, leftover food, etc) and turn THAT into fuel. Ingenious.
